The Ibiza Half Marathon 2026 celebrated its most participatory edition this weekend, with data that consolidates its presence on the European calendar.

More than 4,500 athletes from 32 countries participated in an event marked by the environment and ideal conditions for running.

The event, held in the surroundings of Sant Josep de Sa Talaia, once again demonstrated its international convening capacity. The high percentage of foreign riders and the parity between men and women reflect a growth that goes beyond the local circuit.

African dominance in a decisive race in the last kilometres

In the men's category, Mangusho Nockson took the victory after completing the 21.097 kilometres in 1:05:28. The race was not decided until the final stretch, where he opened a gap over his main rival and kept the difference until the finish line.

David Kiplagat, compatriot of Nockson, crossed the finish line second, at 28 seconds, after staying in the leading group for a good part of the route. Meshack Kirway completed the podium, bringing Kenya to the top three in the men's event.

Annete Chesang won the women's category in 1:14:24 with clear dominance from the start. He set a steady pace and managed the advantage smoothly until he crossed the finish line with a wide difference over the second.

Angeline Chelimo finished second, almost two minutes behind, and Britain's Johanna Oregan closed the podium. The women's race had a more open first half before Chesang finished imposing his pace.

Record participation and international consolidation of the event

Female participation reached 50%, an unusual figure in tests of this level. The data reflects a greater presence of women in endurance events and a change in the profile of the popular runner.

Lourdes Oyarbide, former professional cyclist and Spanish road and time trial champion, made her debut in the distance with a time of 1:44:00. Their participation shows the increasingly varied profile of the event: athletes from other disciplines who find the half marathon a natural challenge.

60.8% of the participants were foreigners, a figure that confirms the international scope of the event. Athletes of several dozen nationalities gathered in Ibiza and made it one of the events on the European popular circuit with the highest proportion of international attendance.

The event is organised by the Ibiza Half Triathlon Sports Association, with the support of the Consell d'Eivissa and the municipalities of Ibiza and Sant Josep. The institutions valued the participation records of this edition and highlighted the growth of the event in recent years.

Volunteering was decisive for the operation of the test, covering the logistics of the tour and the attention to the participants. The numbers of this edition, with 4,500 registered from 32 countries and 60.8% foreign participation, place the Ibiza Half Marathon among the most international running events in southern Europe.
